Peace and the Sciences: Peaceful solution of conflicts in Croatia - case study of Gorski Kotar (June 96: 38-46. )

Record 5 of 7 in Int'l Pol. Sci. Abs. 1997-1999/06

ACCESSION NUMBER:  47-5356

Numerous initiatives have been launched and various attempts made with a single goal: finding both global and local solutions for conflicts. One such successful attempt is presented: the peaceful resolution of disputes between Croats and Serbs who lived in Gorski Kotar in the midst of the war in Croatia, between 1991 and 1993. Peace in this area has been preserved.

This was achieved through cooperation and political wisdom both of representatives of Serbs in Gorski Kotar and representatives of the Republic of Croatia. The results deserve full attention of international institutions and individual scholars explorers, for Croats and Serbs they present just another phase in their strive to live together in the future and to live a better and more satisfying life.
